Friend Ships Medical Health Centers, Camp Ichay provide services to people who have limited access to care. Our last medical health center, Camp Ichay was in Syria. At present, our team is preparing to work at Gaza in the Middle East.
The project will provide medical treatment and humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. Currently, the infrastructure is being put in place as our advance team coordinates with medical personnel.
If you would like to be part of this amazing opportunity, please consider giving financially or joining our team. We need medical and non-medical volunteers.
Port Mercy at Lake Charles, LA
Port Mercy is where it all begins and ends! Every project, each outreach is birthed at the Gulf Coast base that provides a home for our office, warehouses, ships, boats, aircraft and all the trucks and heavy equipment necessary to carry out our job.
Port Mercy houses our main office where voyages are conceived and planned, staff are recruited, resources are developed, and all the basic administrative tasks are carried out on a regular basis. This facility is the Southwest Louisiana home to StoreHouse One, the Friend Ships program that collects and distributes food to local organizations daily. Port Mercy is the base where our equipment receives care and maintenance; where we gather, organize and store humanitarian aid; select and train new crew, including Sea Hawks.
Every year natural disasters destroy entire communities, leaving thousands of people homeless, their crops and possessions destroyed and their livestock dead. People need medical assistance, food, shelter, and supplies to help them make it through a devastating time. Our teams arrive by truck or ship to the disaster site with food, supplies and emergency equipment, providing high water rescue, food service, commodity distribution, medical aid and many other services, as needed.
Friend Ships rescues useable food that would otherwise be destroyed and distributes it to organizations and churches in the community who are assisting the poor, sick, elderly or homeless. To date, 66 million pounds of food has been collected and distributed. Not only is food given to those in need, but the program provides prayer and a personal touch that encourages those who are going through difficult times.
