When and how did Friend Ships start?

Park West Children’s Fund, Inc., also known as “Friend Ships” was started in 1983 as a charitable outreach of Park West Polo & Hunt Club. At that time, the charity sponsored special programs for battered, abused and handicapped children. Then in 1985, Park West acquired MV Spirit, a 5000-ton ocean-going cargo ship, and began restoring the vessel for international missions of mercy.

Is Friend Ships a non-profit organization

Friend Ships operates as a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible charitable organization.

Do I need support?

It is not necessary to have support because God meets our primary needs, such as food and housing. We do recommend a support base of $50-100 per month, if possible, for personal spending money.

Are there age limitations?

You must be 18 or older to join Friend Ships unless you join with your parents. If you are 18 – 25, check out the Sea Hawk program here. We have no other age limits.
